Electrolysis - Surgery Prep
If you’re planning gender-affirming surgery such as vaginoplasty or phalloplasty, our team is here to support you through the hair removal process. Our experienced technicians understand both the clinical requirements and the personal importance of this step, so we focus on making the process clear, comfortable, and stress-free.
Vaginoplasty Preparation
Hair removal is often required before vaginoplasty surgery in areas where tissue may be used during surgery. Many surgeons recommend beginning with laser hair removal first, followed by electrolysis to clear any remaining hair.
Because the process can take time, it’s best to start treatments well in advance of your surgery date. We recommend starting the hair removal process 18 months prior to your surgery date.
Once you’ve discussed your surgical plan and technique with your surgeon, please share those details with your technician so we can ensure we are treating the correct areas.
At this time, we provide electrolysis services only. Clients seeking laser hair removal may need to begin that portion of treatment with another provider before continuing electrolysis with us.
Phalloplasty Preparation
Preparing for phalloplasty surgery requires hair removal in the area that will provide the skin graft, most commonly the forearm or thigh. Clearing hair from the donor site helps prevent complications once the tissue is used during surgery.
After you’ve confirmed your donor site with your surgeon, we can begin treating the appropriate area.
Please bring a diagram or written outline from your surgeon showing the exact perimeter that must be cleared so we can keep it on file and ensure treatments stay within the required surgical area.
